Terms of Service
These are the terms for using Speech Meter, a pronunciation practice app from AE Studio. By using the app, you agree to them.
The service
Speech Meter lets you practice spoken phrases, get automated pronunciation scores, and optionally have a learning path generated for a goal you describe.
Free and paid access
Practicing phrases and getting scored is free and unlimited, no plan required.
Building a learning path is free for step 1. Steps 2 onward need a plan: a monthly subscription, an annual subscription, or a Goal Pass, which is a single payment covering 90 days of access.
Billing and cancelling
Stripe processes all payments. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel any time through the billing portal, and your access continues through the end of the period you already paid for.
The Goal Pass does not renew. It simply expires 90 days after purchase.
Prices are shown in your local currency where Stripe supports it, and tax may be added at checkout.
Refunds
Email justin.vencel@ae.studio. If Speech Meter did not work for you, ask and we will refund it. We are not offering an unconditional lifetime guarantee, but we will treat a genuine refund request fairly and respond directly.
Your account
You are responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in secure. Accounts are for one person each, not shared. You must be 13 or older to use Speech Meter.
Acceptable use
Do not abuse the service, try to break the paywall, or scrape the app. Do not submit content that is illegal or abusive into the goal field or the feedback box.
We can suspend an account that does any of these things.
Generated content and scores
Learning paths are written by a language model, and it will sometimes be imperfect. Review what it generates before relying on it.
Your pronunciation scores come from an automated system and are an estimate, not a certification, not a test result, and not a qualification anyone else is obliged to recognize.
No guarantee of results
Speech Meter is practice software. It is not a teacher, and it is not a substitute for professional speech therapy or medical advice. We do not guarantee any particular learning outcome.
Availability
We provide the service as is. We aim to keep it running reliably, but we do not promise uptime, and features can change or be removed over time.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you type into Speech Meter. By using the app, you give us permission to process that content to run the service: scoring your speech, generating your learning path, and showing your history.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow this kind of limit, so it may not apply to you.
Ending your use
You can stop using Speech Meter and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of California, USA.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top. Continuing to use Speech Meter after a change means you accept the new terms.
